Question

Why are most of my downloads not finishing?

Sep 19, 2017 10:00AM PDT

Recently my computer stopped downloading anything that wasn’t a really small file. Once it gets close to the end, it pauses, and fails. If I restart my machine, I have three minutes (or so) to download something normally before the problem starts again. This happens across all browsers. Other computers in the house seem to be downloading things fine.
I’ve tried restoring my machine, but it’s still happening. I have to download things like updates and firmware on a different computer in the house. I tried downloading the latest firmware for the Ethernet Connector, but it’s still happening.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Too little to work with.

It could be a site issue or something like a security suite stepping in the way.

I've seen such with security suites as they expire.

No suite installed

The system's been completely restored. There is no security suite installed yet, as it needs to download something online to instal.
This problem is not happening on merely one site. It's happening on every site I've tried.

With only this detail

I'm calling it an ISP issue. Or you installed a VPN or similar and didn't share that detail.

Out of the box, clean I have never seen this happen EXCEPT on a cracked Windows (pirates. arrrRR.)

Based on the details of the downloading problem your are experiencing with downloading files that are not very small in size, I think your Internet connection may be having frequent drops. In Windows, you should check to make sure that your computer is not sharing a connection. Here are the Instructions.

Go to the following:
Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > Right Click Your Network and Choose Properties > Advanced Tab >

What needs to be done:
Now Just Make SURE both boxes under Internet Connection Sharing are NOT Checked. (if the one on the bottom is, check the one on the top then uncheck the bottom, then uncheck the top)

If this does not work, it would be best to contact your ISP. A connection issue may be present.

"Advanced" tab missing

There doesn't seem to be an "Advanced" tab in the "Local Area Connection Properties." Only a "Networking" tab.

Would this have something to do with what's happening?
