There's no proper word for the opposite of "evolution." Rollback? Backslide? Deterioration? Whichever, these might be the words haters of iPhone X's design are looking for to describe Apple's latest flagship device.
It's certainly polarizing. The iPhone X, one of the most radically designed iPhone in years, is almost all screen. Apple even had to get rid of the home button to offer a seamless, borderless experience. Design chief Jony Ive wanted an iPhone that was almost just a slab of glass with a screen on it, blurring the line between hardware, software, and user.
Does other companies copying the notch from Apple?
Answer : Certainly not. Essential was the first brand to offer a smartphone with notched display. But, they shrunk it down as small as possible to accommodate the front-facing camera.
How it became a trend, that every new android face is having it?
Answer : It all started when mobile makers at Mobile World Congress start showcasing smartphones with a notch. First one among such companies were Asus, as they unveiled the Zenfone 5, it became clear that the notch was going to climb higher up the Android food chain. Then there is no stopping. Followed by Oppo F7, Vivo V9 and recent rumor suggest that OnePlus 6 will also embrace the notch.
Also, Android released 9th version with special features for notch.
Will it stay for a longer period? Why companies following this design?
Yes, it is just the beginning, notch is there to stay for a longer period of time.
Companies need to follow the trend and it is good for business. Marcel Campos, head of global marketing operations at Asus said, "“Some people will say it’s copying Apple, but we cannot get away from what users want.” True.
When this ugly notch will bid Good Bye?
Not so early but if any mobile manufacturer finds the technology to hide camera and proximity sensor under the display. That will be the end of this.
