Why?

Dec 16, 2003 2:55AM PST

Why do some people think that a Clinton "mistake" makes a Bush decision correct? Or for that matter the capture of Saddam makes the invasion of Iraq a correct move? Clearly the events have no rational connection. Invasion or no invasion Saddam existed. Clinton or no Clinton certain trends in international politics continue! Terrorism continues, repressive feudal governments in the mideast continue and whether or not the commandments appear in any public building hordes of people read the Bible...so why all the fuss?

People;s opinions are influenced by their politics, their backgrounds, their economic and educational status, and life experiences.IMO, these opinions are ingrained and deeply felt.

I don't think that people are any more evil than they have been - there are just more people, and media coverage has improved so we hear about what men can do to each other.

For me, what makes the capture of Saddam "a big deal" is that, as a proponent of "what goes around comes around" , it was an oasis of good news in the morass of local, national, and international bad news.

I had a teacher who once said something to the effect that it could be hard to love the human race when we ket running into people. A cynical approach, that, as I hold that most folks are good.
