Whole hard drive is read only!

Nov 15, 2004 3:58PM PST

I've recently formatted my hard drive and partitioned it so there's 10GB for C: and 50GB for D: (files etc)

after reinstalling windows xp corporate, i copied my backed up files off a friend's computer over the network to my D: , however ive found that windows has made every file on the D: AND C: set to READ ONLY, and this seems to be preventing me from installing some programs that need to alter files, anyone got any ideas how to turn off read only?? thanks
