Who/What to believe

by Del McMullen / June 30, 2004 2:30 AM PDT

Mulling a few thoughts comparing events of the past decade or so,
and trying to form a somewhat clearer opinion.

Trying to get all this political stuff straightened out in my head so
I'll know how to vote come November. It seems we have one guy
saying and doing one thing. Then the other guy says and does
something else.............. Who to believe.

Let's see now, have I got this straight?

Clinton awards Halliburton no-bid contract in Yugoslavia - good...

Bush awards Halliburton no-bid contract in Iraq - bad...

Clinton spends 77 billion on war in Serbia - good...

Bush spends 87 billion in Iraq - bad...

Ah, it's so confusing!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the "other guy" in this election John Kerry? Or is Bush going to run against Clinton again?

Hi Josh,

.....just recalling events and tallying them in political
party columns. Angry

Except for his long hair days as a protestor, no one ever
heard from or about Kerry until he decided to run for
President, so I assume he is carrying a party banner. Sad

I think I prefer the court case where he's trying to get Playboy to not publish the picture he took of Gloria.

This is what Del posted:

The rest of the post is a series of Bush II/Clinton comparisons. I am not confused about who is running in this year's election; are you?

The names only pin point the time line. The "noise" of
the current campaign is driven by political parties. It
is political parties, not individuals, in reality, competing
for election rewards.

To bolster the idea that names are unimportant, just follow
DK's "noise".

Hi, Del.

Serbia = preventing aggression, with multinational approval and UN involvement
Iraq = aggression, with little international approval and UN disapproval.

What UN involvement? After the fact Peace Keepers. There has been FAR more international involvement in Iraq ALL ALONG. Clinton never even sought a UN Resolution because he knew he would never get one. Preventing aggression? Nope, domestic issue, no aggression threatening expansion.

C'mon DK,

Shed your political piety. You know and recognize that
"fact" or "factual" is only pretended in politics, particularly
during an election year. No one pays attention to detail.
No one cares if the i's are dotted or the t's crossed.

Many are finally adopting the idea that nothing can be taken
for granted, so why become upset. Join the crowd and have
fun. Poke jokes and spread hate and discontent.
Become a normal human being.

Can you link to a UN resolution on Serbia that ...

"authorized" use of force? Can you show us actual "UN Involvement" during the action or only after the fact?

I can and have linked to more than a couple such UN resolutions regarding Iraq, AND the UN has been involved in Iraq for quite some time (or can't you remember your own posts linking to a vehicular bomb against the UN Compound months ago?).

"Fawlty" memory again or just your really strange and different "situational" version of reality?
