I've read this question a few times and given you can't find them and I didn't see any on display it appears there are none today.
I can find a few offerings from HP, but the pictures at Dell, Lenovo, Samsung and Sony seem to show the touchpad offset to the left.
Does anyone know of a 14", i5 less than 5 pound laptop with a centered touchpad?
From my earlier post:
I carefully measured the length of my right and left arms. I repeated this for some of my family and friends. ALL of use have two limbs of pretty close to the same size.
In spite of this, most of the computer industry has introduced LAPtop computers for people with a longer right arm!
When I use my aging HP computer on my LAP, the touchpad is equidistant from my left and right shoulder joints, a rather natural feel. I bought a newer computer for my girlfriend and behold - the touchpad is centered below the space bar, which is shifted to the left of the case. To make matters worse, most touchpads now have a "scroll" feature on the right side of the pad which really makes things awkward.
I need to replace my trusty 5 year old machine, and it is getting very hard to find a centered touchpad. There seem to be only two logical conclusions:? Computer designers have evolved to have longer right arms.? Designers don't ever test the ergonomics of a laptop on the lap.
