Whitebooks? Anyone Know Anything?

Unlike the PC market where you can pretty much build your own machine as and how you like it I'm really, really surprised not much has happened in the laptop or portable area and this hasn't caught up wih their desktop cousins.

I do know about whitebooks but who sells the laptop shells and parts to make a customized machine? and is it the whole price thing that has stopped this becoming more widespread?
