Question

White Lines on Images

Apr 2, 2016 12:53PM PDT

I have a Nikon Coolpix 5700 and although the scene looks fine on the screen and through the viewfinder, the photos are coming out white with horizontal lines (see attached images). Does anyone have thoughts on what may be causing this and whether it's worth trying to get the camera fixed See example at: https://www.dropbox.com/home/Camera%20Uploads?preview=DSCN6387.JPG

I'm not sure where else to post the picture. Do you have any suggestions? It forces me to enter a url. Thanks.

Read how to do that in dropbox help.

You need to create an URL link in dropbox and post that here.

Do not repair.
Apr 3, 2016 7:16AM PDT

This model is going for about 70 bucks used so if you must keep this model one of the good used ones should beat the repair bill.

Last hurrahs? Remember it's dead.

1. Look for any resets in the camera manual and menus.
2. Do the old thump resets. Remove battery, lens, extra parts and give the camera a solid whack into the palm of your hand. Reassemble and test. Remember it's broken and not economical to repair so give it a thump.

Notes:
Camera was sold around 2003.
http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-Coolpix-Digital-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B000069092 had used at about 70 bucks. Same prices on Ebay.

You can open a free account on photobucket.com
Store one or more pictures there.
To the right of each photo you have 4 choices to share the photo.
Choose the Direct option and the photo link will be put in your scratchpad memory.

When you write your post to this forum, press Ctrl/V and the link will be added to your post.

I think you forgot to put it in your Public folder then get the public link.

Photobucket has a lot of ads now. Try imgur.com

I'd have thought a bad cable. However it's sending fine to your viewer, so maybe you have the output for print set to some low B&W value.
