White horizontal lines on Sony TRV66

Apr 10, 2005 9:41AM PDT

Ugh, this started happening on my camcorder a couple of years ago. I use the camera mainly for filming short movies that my friends and I make, and edit them on the computer. This is a huge gripe of mine and it is EXTREMELY annoying. The camera isn't very good quality as it is, and this just adds to the frustration.

Here is a short clip and example of what happens:

It seems to happen when dar*k (I can't write the word dark?) colors and white (the camera thinks the white is very bright) conflict, and the result are those lines. The only way I can get rid of them right now is in post by blurring and de-interlacing. But that only helps a little bit.

Anyone know how to get rid of these? Is some kind of lighting setting too high, and its just picking up that white really hardcore?

Thank you very much!
