Question

White Film on USB & other peripherals

Oct 26, 2014 3:23AM PDT

Hello, I've done a quick search for this and came up empty.

My questions are:
- What is the white film that accumulates on USB, Micro USB, Lightning, and other plugs when connected to the computers and other devices?

- Why does this happen?

- What is it made of?

Answer
Provide a pix and then link

Use a public pix sharing website like Photoshare or similar and then provide a link to it.

Offhand, I know of no "white stuff" as you described it being a common residue if that's such an item. A pix may provide a clue. if you're near water or sea water or humid, that could be corrosion. Anything else is a guess. Sometimes the location of your PC, etc., may provide a hint of the substance, like near a cosmetic mirror.
