White Dots Samsung DLP HLS6187W

Okay, so looks like im another victim to the "White Dots" My model number is HLS6187wx xaa and sure enough the tech told me that it was not included with the models for free repair.

I first called today and the tech told me to go to website and download software to fix white dots. This was some BS cause there was no software to fix the issue online.

2nd call I explained to them that the dots were increasing and she again explained that there was nothing she could do. I ask for a supervisor and they told me the same thing.

How could some TV's be covered and others not??????? Especially if its all the same issue. I have a Samsung blue ray and surround sound system. The least they could do is supply the faulty DMD. If this was an isolated case where my TV was only having a problem I would be okay, but its so many of US.

Im hoping to contact customer relations to further express my frustration with the White Dot issue that so many of us are having.

Donbailey01,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having this issue with your DLP.

I've sent that up to one of the customer service managers to see if your case can be reviewed. That was done this evening, and should be reviewed as early as next week.

Donbailey01,

Thanks for that. I sent it after business hours on Friday, so it may be a few days before the case is reviewed. If I hear something back, I'll be happy to post it.

Keep me posted, too.

Same Problem - very annoyed!

In reply to: Updates

Hello,

I am glad that I found your message. I am also experiencing these white dots on my Samsung tv. My husband and I have done our research on this problem and found that this is a very common problem for Samsung DLP's and they actually had a free service repair for white-dots only. The problem with this is that it apparently expired December 31, 2010. I called Samsung tonight and spoke with 2 different people, who both were very strict in saying that there was nothing they could do, as it is past the expiration date. This is ridiculous! We have 7 dots on our tv that started showing up 3 weeks ago, one by one. We waited until we had 4 of them, as this was the point at which it would be covered by Samsung. Then we are told it is too late.

There should not be an end date to this problem! If Toyota had recalls on defective parts and told their customers that they only had 3 months to bring in their cars, otherwise they had to live with their defective breaks, they would go out of business. This defect should be corrected by Samsung, if their products and business policy mean anything to them. I am really upset that I am being told there is nothing they can and will do. There is ALWAYS something they can do, they just won't do it. And to hear that there are others in the same situation as me, past their 'expiration' just shows that the products are faulty and so is their policy.

I want someone to correct this issue asap!

BunBunny,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having the symptom on your DLP television.

I like to try and assist. If you have a transaction number from a recent call with the Samsung customer service center, could you please post it here? I like to see if one of the managers can review your case and see they can assist.

If you don't have a transaction number, would you please call the customer service center at 800-SAMSUNG, attempt to get a repair, and if he gets denied, ask for a transaction number to reference your call?

I can escalate it from there. While I can't promise any service related guarantee, what I can do is escalate it and see if one of the decision-makers can you review your case.

Hello HDTech,
Thank you for your concern with all of us and our white dot issues. Can you please see if you can get an answer as to why some of them are being fixed and some are not and what is the determining criteria? Thank you from Transaction #2013086864

Help

In reply to: Help

panda_ltc,

I can only respond if I hear back from the service department. There's no way I can disclose reasons for people's transactions being accepted or denied. It's on a case-by-case basis.

I have sent your case up for review this evening, and it will likely be Monday or Tuesday before it's reviewed. If after that point, you'd like to follow up, I'd recommend calling 800-SAMSUNG. I can't facilitate service follow ups, but they can.

I try to help as many as possible, and that's how I can do that. I do appreciate the kind words, and hope my concern pays off for people here.

Hello HD Tech,

I have contacted Samsung to get my transaction number for the 'white dot' problem on my samsung dlp tv. Here is it: 2101170635. I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to look into this correction. There are obviously a lot of other unhappy customers experiencing the same defective part to our tvs. I would hope that Samsung would take us seriously and honour their name to have things fixed, as it is clearly a problem with their part.

Please let me know the results after speaking with management. I really do appreciate it.

Thanks again!

Wow - I received a phone call from management at Samsung who said that they received my complaint and they would offer me a one-time replacement of the DMD that caused these white dots on my tv!! I am so impressed and so happy. My faith in Samsung has been completely restored and I am truly grateful for this repair. Samsung sure knows how to keep their customers happy and my husband and I are loyal customers. We will definitely stick with Samsung! Thank you again. :o)

Samsung DLP w/White Dots

In reply to: Same Problem - very annoyed!

My Samsung now has the Milky Way star system and the Big Dipper and Little Dipper constellations all over my screen. No coverage as the Samsung rep said mine tv is not covered by the free fix. If Samsung is having such a problem with the dead pixels, why don't they recall all problematic TV's. My model is HL-T6156W. TV was purchased in Aug 2007, not quite 4 years old. Don't know when it was manufactured.
My recommendation now for all my friends and acquaintences are NOT TO BUY SAMSUNG. Why throw good money after bad to try and repair a problem that they will only guarantee for 90 days. Problem more than likely will occur again.

mad and ready to buy something other than a samsung

In reply to: Updates

I have the same exact problem. The white dots have increased greatly in the last month. I've called the samsung support team with no help. My model number is HLT5075SX/XAA and I feel this is a total sham. This problem was a known issue when my TV was sold to me, and Samsung has done nothing to change it. I'm asking for support on this issue. If no support is given, I guess I'll be purchasing electronics elsewhere. This is coming from an Electronics buyer for a 6 billion dollar company...

I feel your frustrations. Keep with it because they eventually stood by their product and replaced it for us. I don't know why Samsung didn't do a recall of this product - that's what should have been done. But in the end, we had ours replaced and it was worth the headache of all those phone calls. Samsung came through for us! Good luck!! :o)

I have a 56" (HLT5676SX/XAA) that is having the white dot problem. Started with one dot and within a few weeks it is up to about 20. Yesterday was my first call and I went right to the ECR (Exec Customer Relations: 1-800-522-7341)and skipped the general number based on the advice of others. I mentioned the forums, my internet research, others with the same model being repaired at no cost, and the white dot class action lawsuit. They were aware of the issue immediately and gave me no problem at all. They said that if it is the white dot issue then they will have it repaired at no cost, eventhough my model is technically not covered. The only out of pocket expense I may have is the diagnostic fee from the repair center. However, most often the repair center will accept photos and waive the fee. I called the ECR again and spoke with a different individual to confirm everything and I received the exact same response. I also emailed pictures of the white dots to the ECR person I spoke with. The individual said they may be able to extend the warrenty based on the pictures alone to make the diagnostic fee unnecessary. I should expect a call from the repair center in 1 to 2 business days. I was expecting a much more difficult time so try going right to the ECR. They were very nice and accommodating. I hope this helps.

Hello.

I have read all the pages on the CNET forum concerning the white dot problem with
Samsung DLP TVs. I would like to thank you for all your help with previous customers.

My tv had a couple dots for six months and a month ago they started increasing.
I found this thread using a search, contacted Samsung, and am now contacting you.

The Samsung rep told me my tv was not covered for the one-time fix. They
also said my tv is a newer model and this issue was previously "corrected". Well,
since I am getting white dots, the problem does not seem to be "corrected" correctly.
Can you please help?

Hello HD Tech.

Thank you for your help.

Samsung sent a repair man and when he was on his way to my house,
he called and said he would be at my house within the hour, quoted my
transaction number, and that I needed to call Samsung to find out if my
repair was covered.

Samsung refused to cover any costs towards the repair of the same
bad
chip that continues to create white dots.

Can you please contact them again and ask if they will cover the cost of the
chip and I will cover the cost of the labor to install. Also, please let them know
that their response will determine if I ever consider buying another Samsung
product.

CNET has been very helpful to me and all other DLP owners.

Thank you very much!!

When I mentioned reading on the internet that people with identical models to mine were getting theirs fixed, she told me that she was passing on my case to an executive customer service rep who would be giving me a call within 24 hours. However its been 48 hours and I have yet to hear from anyone on samsung's behalf, and i'm starting to get nervous. Now, I understand that these past couple days being the weekend and labor day might have something to do with it, but Yolanda the customer service rep had assured me that I should hear from them on Monday (09/05/11). When I asked for a transaction number, she emailed me a ticket with specifics of a local repair shop. I'm not sure what to do with the ticket, b/c i really am not able to pay for this out of my own pocket.
