General discussion

white dots on screen

Nov 29, 2012 12:15PM PST

I have seen on the forrums that there is problem with these Samsung tv's. I went to Samsung direct to ask a question and all they want is money to get this problem not even fixed just to speak with someone online. This is the worst customer relations attitude that they are taking especially with this internet at our finger tips. I will blast them starting here and now and never buy another Samsung again. I hope someone can share as to the actual solution to the problem which I believe it is to replace a chip in the tv.

White dot problems

Our TV also has white dot problems, an obvious design error. Been trying to get repaired since summer of 2012. Many calls have been made to Samsung customer no service, latest info said it would cost $420.00 to repair! This is crazy! Can't understand Samsung's reluctance to address this issue, which is costing them many customers. I think I will call Clark Howard about this.

See Figure 9 of this PDF.

Notice the life span reduction as you add 5 or 10 degrees? Also, there is another such PDF with humidity effects.

TI sold this to a few makers and TI documented the life span. This part is not free from wear and tear and has the classic "bath tub" curve effect as well.

Some folk will want to know the full story, others don't want all the data. A few will ignore all the players in this show.

I filed a complaint with the bbb. Samsung called me a day later and offered me a one time fix if it's the dlp chip.
