while installing win 95 sound card is not detected automatically

Feb 29, 2004 5:16PM PST

I am having PII 350 32 MB comp with 440 BX intel motherboard. I am having Yamah OPAL SAX sound card with 180 watts speakers. When i install windows 98 on my PC, the operating sys automatically detects sound card and installs the driver. However when I install windows 95, the sound card is not automatically detected. (I don't have Intel 440 BX Driver CD) Also I cannot install the soundcard manually. What can be the problem and what is the solution for that?

"I can't install the soundcard manually".

Why not? How do you try to do it? What if you run the New Hardware Wizard and choose to do it manually, not automatically?

However, you would need the drivers from the driver CD, or download them from somewhere on the net. Try the Intel site, for example.

You can use a program called "Windriver Ghost" found on the internet. Run the program and copy the driver for the soundcard to a floppy. When Win95 asks for the driver point to the floppy and load the driver. Or, you could find a driver at "soundcard-drivers.com." Hope this helped.

More than likely you can go to Fortissimo's site for Yamaha sound cards. They may have the drive you are seeking, or try driverguide.com.
