Which

I would choose the Canon elph 100 HS.

To me, the 16 MP sensor of the two Sony cameras is a negative.

The camera makers have gone overboard on megapixels.
You would think that you would get better resolution and detail out of 16 MP,
but they don't.
They put too many megapixels on a too small sensor assembly.
This result is that it generates more noise, and the camera makers are forced to use
excessive noise reduction firmware in the camera.
This results in a loss of detail.

The 12 megapixel Canon elph 100 has much better detail than either 16 MP Sony.

A lot of people have discouraged me from the Sony cameras but for some reason I keep wanting to get it.I like canon but I am kinda not sure about why I don't trust them is something I don't understand. But you have given me a logical explanation so I will think again about it Happy.
Thank you.
