Mar 29, 2006 3:48AM PST

I am currently looking to buy 1 of 3 camcorders.

Sony DCR-DVD203
Sony DCR-DVD403
Sony DCr-DVD405

With so many price differences not sure which one to buy from.I have read reviews on some of them. They all have had some bad reviews.Any input on would be appreciated.

Look at Price Grabber. These guys weren't the cheapest, in fact there were a couple cheaper, but they had a great rating, and I have made two purchases from them. I had a defective battery in the accessory kit I bought. They had upgraded the battery for free to begin with, then when I called about the battery, they upgraded to a Sony brand for $20 difference

Both Amazon.com and B&H Photo & Video are good, solid

vendors. I don't hesitate to buy from either. With Amazon, you may be buying from a different store, but I rely on the Amazon connection as evidence of a reliable vendor. They are both competitive on price, but not the absolute lowest.

I don't know if B&H carries the cameras you are looking at. You would have to check.

What I do
Apr 3, 2006 9:25PM PDT

is go to pricegrabber.com and check for lowest price on a big ticket item such as this. I then look at the reviews on the merchant. Lowest price does not always equate to best dealer. I have however found several excellent sites that I had never heard of by using pricegrabber. On my Sont camcorder, the site I mentioned was the third cheapest, but the two cheaper ones were plagued with recent complaints.

Thanks for the info.I always check customer reviews.Great customer service is always worth paying more for.Anyway i bought the Sony dcr-dvd403 at the local best buy for 549.00.It was an open box but works great and came with an extra battery that was missed.
