by rocksolid123 / October 15, 2009 6:50 AM PDT

I am looking to get a new TV. Here are the choices. Which one to go for and why?

Toshiba 40RV525R 40" LCD 1080p HDTV

Sony Bravia KDL-40S5100 40" Flat LCD 1080p HDTV

Samsung - 40" Class / 1080p / 60Hz / LCD HDTV
Model: LN40B530P7FXZA

I'm not too sure about the others but my Samsung 500 series that I bought a year ago has been awesome. good frame response clear picture nice contrast looks great for video games. consistent picture across the screen.

I'm going to buy a TV and will go with a Plasma, not LCD. I like the picture, it looks more natural (at least on the panasonics) and also the screen has a thick layer protecting it unlike the LCD which would get wrecked by the slightest of projectiles. Other than that LCDs are great and also consume a bit less but since we do not watch a lot of TV that's irrelevant for us.

inputs, contrast etc.

check out what inputs they have and compare that. same for the contrast.

also samsung has a good reputation for making LCDs. Check out reviews for the particular one, but if you go to a store just try to see which picture you like best. different brands may give slightly different pictures.
