Resolved Question

Which tablet for my friend

Apr 28, 2015 4:47AM PDT

I have a friend who currently has many Nook books, but is reading A LOT ($500/mo on ebooks).

Amazon has the Kindle Unlimited subscription for $9.99/month which seems like a good idea and whilte B&N has many free books, it currently has no subscription comparable to Kindle Unlimited.

I'm trying to help my friend find an Android tablet that is 9" or smaller (easy to fit in purse) that can load both the Nook and Kindle apps and thus allow her to read from either platform. (I have both a Kindle and a Nook, and while I've side-loaded the Nook app onto the Kindle HDX, its operating system too locked down and limiting to work for my friend).

What is the best, most affordable tablet option for my friend?

So why not the Amazon Fire with the Nook app?

I loaded the Nook app on my Kindle

Loading the Kindle app on my Nook took several hours. There's no way my friend would be capable of this. Thus NOT a Kindle and the reason that I posted the question as to what's the best, affordable NON Nook or Kindle Android tablet for my friend.

How about that Dell Venue. CNET just reviewed it.

-> The trouble is you are asking for the best. ONLY YOU WILL BE ABLE TO ANSWER. My thought is that Google makes the best Android tablets. All the others seem to be compromises.
