General discussion

which sony should i buy?

Jan 9, 2011 10:10AM PST

Hi!

I'm torn, and I need some help deciding which Sony digital camera to buy, the Sony DSC-H55 or the DSC-HX5V. (I want to stay with Sony because I loved my old Sony digital.)

From the CNet reviews, the H55 takes excellent quality photos but is rather slow, whereas the HX5V is incredibly fast, has some fantastic features, and takes generally good photos, especially in low light (which is important to me), but some photos are a little "soft" and the colors are not accurate.

What would you advise for an amateur who loves taking photographs, especially of people and places around the world? I do get annoyed by slow cameras, but the complaints about the HX5V's photo quality worry me. But maybe I wouldn't even notice, since I'm not an accomplished photographer?

Thank you!!
