Which Sony mini DV tape is better?

Jan 31, 2005 3:19AM PST

Sony makes three different types of mini DV tapes (DVM-60PRL, DVM-60EXL and DVM-60EXML), does anyone know which gives the best video quality. I know one of these model comes with built-in 4k bit IC memory chip that allows you to index or bookmark your video within the camcorder environment, but I just want to know if there is a video quality difference? Thanks.

Dear Syeedur,
1.DVM-60PRL is Sony Premium Series Mini DV Tape.
2.DVM-60EXL has a 2dB higher carrier to noise ratio (vs. PR)
3.DVM-60EXML is the same as DVM-60EXL except embeded IC.
Another type you do not mentioned is DVM63HD, offers 63 minute tape duration, 3 dB higher carrier-to-noise ratio vs. Premium DVC tape and designed for 1080i or 720p HDV recording and playback. The additional 3-minutes on the DVM63HD tape is for test recording

Best Regards,
Vincent
