Which Smart UPS for MacPro 3.33GHz

Mar 15, 2010 12:35AM PDT

I will be getting a MacPro 3.33GHz soon, and need to find the right Smart UPS system that will allow the MacPro to automatically save and shut down.

I've been searching through the specs on many Smart UPS systems and have found very few that list Mac OSX on the system requirements.

Have you checked APC?

Their basic product is called "Powerchute" which will do as you wish. They make MAC versions but I can't do more than google American Power Conversion.

Powerchute ....

I called APC today and spoke with one of their technicians. They never mention Powerchute, but told me that I should use the native shut-down feature within the Mac OSX system

I'll call them back and ask about the Powerchute ....

Maybe MAC already has this ability

and you'd not need to install any software. I don't know MACs but I've used powerchute on older PCs.
