Which second tablet to go with my Ipad 3rd gen??

Hey all,

I`ve had a 3rd gen Ipad for a few years now and i`m happy with it but I find in my family i rarely get to use it, so i`m looking for a second. I dont really care if its android or ios aslong as its of around 9" or 10" screen. Ipad Air just seems a little too expensive for a second tablet, but the Nexus 7 I was thinking of is just too small.

I see those Samsung 8 inchers on sale all over. Refurbs at woot.com are 150 or less. But keep in mind, this won't be an Apple experience.
