Which scripting language/s is/are easy and right for me

Apr 11, 2007 12:52PM PDT

Be peace and happiness upon you!

I am no programmer or a computer guru. But I love computers. I work with Windows and Linux machines. I love internet. And plan to buy a Mac.

Scripting?

There are tasks that are repetitive and I want to use scripts to automate them.

As I have said I am not a guru, I just want to learn what I need to and not every thing.

I want to know what scripting language would be easy for more-than-an-average user but not a guru and works with Windows, Linux, Mac and internet(Google and Firefox).

It would be easier if I have to learn just one language and be good in it. But I know that one scripting language might not do all. Ok, in that case two(Net and OS) but just one would be alot more fun.

Thanks

My first language was assembler for the GE-210 circa 1970. Later I took Fortran and from there self taught more assembler, C, basic, C++, etc. Scripting isn't really a language in my world but where you take a command and put it in a file so you don't have to type it in.

There is no one language that works everywhere for everything so the best thing to do is dive in and get used to the water.
