Which receiver to buy?
Hi folks, I am new on this forum and with a bit knowledge of home receivers. I will buy next week an equipment for my apartment with small room.

I have chosen some models from different brands and I'd like to have a better idea in what to buy:

Pioneer VSX-824-K

Onkyo TX-NR535

Yamaha RX-V477

Denon AVR-E400

Thanks in advance

How big is the room?

What features found on each of these models might lead you to work out better for your particular situation?

Do you plan on adding a second sub for the smaller space? <* hence the 5.2 designation for two of them from your above list.>

My second question leads me to a third- which speakers/sub(s) will you pair the receiver with(?)

I honestly could see any of them working fine if you didn't need a second sub (etc.).

1 - My room is not too big WxLxH 2,5 x 5 x 3 meters.
2 - I will mostly use it for watching movies using Blu-ray, DVDs and downloaded files.
3 - No, no intention to add any second sub.
4 - I just bought the Jamo A 102 HCS 6.

I didn't mention that my budget is on U$ 360.00 and I will be at NY from november 17th to 23rd, so is it possible to get any sale from thanksgiving holidays?

Grab the Yamaha 5.1 rig

For ~ $300 you should find it more than incredible for your HT space. Very full featured. The other receivers are either 5.2 or 7.1, which you don't need given you own the above Jamo system.

For me personally, shopping around Thanksgiving is more of a pain than a bonus. Call around to see who's close by where you will be staying for deals on similar 5.1 systems if you cannot find that particular Yamaha. It's too bad you can't have someone like a relative or friend buy one for you online before you get here.

hope that helps,
P

Actually I can buy it online and request to deliver it at my hotel (I'll be staying at the Edison in Times Square).

BH Photo is the best option? Buying online I can avoid paying the US taxes I will only have my credit card tax.

But I'm afraid to lose a good sale in local store.

Online is normally about as low of a price as you will get, unless the item is a store closeout model/discontinued/open box item/etc. YMMV.

BH is pretty reputable. Just verify your purchase/shipping procedure is legitimate. Your other problem is the small amount of time you are physically here in the US if you need to purchase one specific model.
My advice would be to also line up a substitute in case that one for some odd reason becomes unavailable in your price point, etc.
