Question

Which power plug for an internal SSD hard drive?

Aug 14, 2016 2:17PM PDT

A bit confused here. I have an Intel SSD drive I'd like to use from applications, as well as a 2TB Seagate HDD. Before, the Seagate was plugged up to P8. The next closest power plug is P7, can I use P7 for the SSD without jacking up my motherboard? Should they be switched? Should they be configured differently altogether? Appreciate any guidance. For the record my computer is an Acer Predator G3620. Thanks!

Answer
For SATA, one power plug is the same as the next

So no issue there. As long as you are connecting items with the power off to the PC and the AC MAINS unplugged I've yet to find any "jacking" to happen.

Supercool, thanks for the quick reply & for chiming in. The installation of a 2.5 width to 3.5 is a bit awkward but I was able to pin it down. Wish me luck on the Windows install.
