Now we just wait on God to visit their sin back on them. It's coming....
Wow, your God is really vindictive and not at all forgiving, is he.
for sin. God doesn't usually remove the consequences, in this life, even if there is forgiveness. For example, if I drive drunk and kill someone, the person is dead even if I am subsequently forgiven. Consequences also accrue for a society as a whole. That, indeed, should give us pause.
As for forgiveness, as far as I know, there needs to be some repentence before forgiveness is granted. There needs to be at least an initial turning from sin and exercising of a personal faith in Christ. Thereafter, a person's sins are covered, but the discipline becomes much stronger for those who persist in a particular sin.
I can rape and murder and have a great time for 90 years. Then I go, "Oh *****, I'm gonna die soon", do the scared get religion as so many whose lives are under threat do, Cindi is our local example (not crime, life under threat), and go to heaven and have a great time.
Or, I can be IanC/OZ, who argues with people but doesn't hurt anyone, and dies an apostate and spends eternity in hell because I wasn't a believer and priest and child molester whose behaviour was hidden by the church, or whipped slaves as most priests in England did for about 700 years.
CRAP
If God has 1 millionth of a percent of a brain after creating the universe, I'm sure he'd notice the reality of how a person lived, not this endless garbage the Christian "you'll go to hell, you *******, because you don't agree with me" keep shoving in our faces.
Spekeasy is becoming day by day more a platform of "believe in our version of God, or rot in hell and everything you say demonstrates my rightness in saying you will rot in hell because I represent God, you represent Satan and you are WRONG WRONG WRONG you disbeliever who has no faith".
The real problem is the assumption that those who disagree with you and Cindi and Ed and Evie and Glenda and Steve et al and all the other "righteous" in your eyes, have no faith.
We have faith. It just doesn't happen to be your faith.
Ian
Hi Ian,
My life isn't under threat and I'm not scared of anything. My life is good, and full of peace and joy! In my case, I really WANTED Jesus in my life, it wasn't some last-ditch insincere pleading (which won't work anyway).
I used to have "great times" as you call them, and I believed that I was a nice person, and I was! But it wasn't healthy for me, because the good deeds and good times were not from a concern for others, but very self-serving.
You'd be surprised at some of the things I've done that God has forgiven me for. And thankfully He has, because I even wouldn't have forgiven me! And I praise the Lord every day that I don't have to carry worry and guilt and shame around all the time anymore. With Christ came freedom for me.
And I still have good times, and I'm still a good person, and now it feels right. Ya know, once the Lord is in your life, sin just isn't fun anymore.
Yeah, there's hypocrites, and those who are too militaristic, and those who are judgemental. We're all only human, and hopefully the Holy Spirit will lead them in a gentler way. We're all works in progress.
I think your view of Christianity is based on your brother, who seems a little....intense...to me. Don't judge the message by the messenger, please!
All I need to know and all I can tell you is MY life and MY experiences since I invited Jesus into my heart, and I'm happy. It might not convince you, but I'm satisfied. ![]()
Love you Ian,
Cindi
your faith in God. He's the one who will decide your fate, and He'll do it on His terms. He is sovereign if you understand what that means. He made us, and He has the right to decide our future. It's not a good idea to spit in His face.
If your faith is a legitimate faith in God, and you have a relationship with Him, then it doesn't matter who else thinks or says something to the contrary. If it's not, then maybe you should listen.
Oh, I think he overlooks a lot, lets a lot go by, but after awhile, with more longsuffering than man may exhibit at times, even God finally gets fed up with all the insults and gives people their due. He can bless, and he can curse. Good for us he's slower on the curse side.
They were after enforcement of the law. If the judge didn't like the law he should have set an example by fighting to have it changed instead of thumbing his nose at it.
He recognized that there were possible constitutional issues involved. It's pretty simple.
Dan
Otherwise, he would have issued an injunction, and what harm would that do? This doesn't even have the appearance of justice.
