Well, I would buy the first one if you want it for long lasting, because it is true, after a while, rechargeable batteries lose their original capabilities. But if you want more features, obviously you can pick the second one.
I'm looking for an easy to use mp3 player for under $50 (CDN) so I can listen to my audiobooks on the commute to school/work. These two look interesting, but I thought I'd put it out to experts before making a commitment...

^ this one looks esp good to me bc it seems no frills, which is what I totally want. I really don't need video capabilities, or anything like that. and it's 4 gigs, so it'll store a bunch of books.
i guess the only con I can think of is that it uses batteries (aaa) to work, so that would be an additional expense.

The rechargeable battery is the plus for this one. But I've heard that some rechargeable batteries don't last very long and I might have to buy a new mp3 player in a year or so due to a dead battery.
