I read that the Sony will not be in stores until April.
The S100 will work better than the HX100V in low light due to having a larger sensor assembly.
And the overall picture quality is better too
That is because the HX100V uses a smaller sensor assembly and has too many pixels on such a small sensor assembly. That forces them to be heavy handed with noise suppression firmware which reduces detail.
If you want a large optical zoom, I suggest you look at the Panasonic FZ150.
It uses 12 megapixels which produces less noise than the 16 megapixel Sony HX100V.
It produces better images than the Sony HX100V and works better in low light.
The Panasonic and Sony are about the same size.
I'm in doubt between two compacts: Sony Cyber-Shot HX100V and Canon Power-Shot s100, which are about the same price.
The first one has an amazing optical zoom, angle-adjustable LCD, a greater range of features and it's much more beautiful, in my opinion. But Canon s100 seems to have quite better image quality, and it's pocket-sized.
I want a camera for common daily pictures with friends and travel pictures, like landscapes and monuments.
Could anyone with more experience with photography please help me decide?
Thanks in advance!
