General discussion

Which of these 3 is the best choice???

Apr 21, 2009 10:11PM PDT

I am trying to decide between the following:

JVC Everio GZ-MG630
Panasonic SDR-H60
Sony DCR-SR47

I will be using this mainly to film my kids soccer games and volleyball games.

definately the Panasonic SDR-H60. it has the optical image stabilization which will help A LOT when zooming in across a field. as far as quality the jvc and panasonic are tied, with sony in last

the only think sony has over panasonic and jvc is it records straight to mpeg2 which will play on a media player right off the camera. the others, you must change the extension first (not convert)

I just read that the Panasonic breaks your movie up into smaller files which you need to re-assemble again using "their software". That would be a pain.

Also, I heard that some JVCs (670) record in .MOD format, which would not be good for using most editing software. Do you know if the 630 records in .MOD or what?

Any truth to these comments?

all files got their extentions like for example .mp3 .avi .mpg

some camcorder like mine panasonic sdr h60 recording and saving files into .MOD files whitch you need to simple rename into .mpg and all will be fine and clear (you can use for it software WINDOWS COMMANDER (whitch i will recommend) or just change in windows to show extentions and change them.

if you record 16x9 aspect ratio you will need this freeware program to change/flag it so your system could read it correctly http://zyvid.com/smf/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=280.0;id=218 by sektionschef (*thanks for sharing sektionschef)
