Which nvidia upgrade ??

I have a rather elderly Pentium 4 3ghz system . . .running on a megabyte Socket 775 LGA CA81915PM motherboard with I gig of DDR SDRAM memory.

I know it's a bit ancient but the main problem is the graphics card which is a lousy Geforce 6200 LE.

Which nvidia card would be the best upgrade, power-wise and budget-wise, without having to change the mobo or power supply. I don't want to play Crysis at high res . . .just something like Quake 4 or Doom 3 at a decent resolution.

I have a PCI Express slot.

yeah, the 8600Gt will work with 9.0c... if you have an older system... do you have an AGP slot or a pci-e slot? if you have the AGP slot, the best card i know of is the 7600GS, which is what i have. its ok, but the 8600GT is better, obviously. and pci-e wont fit into an agp and vice versa

Well, I went into my local PC shop and a very helpful bloke showed me a Geforce 8600 GT 1gb card that has HDMI out . . .so presumably I could hook it up to my Samsung HD telly which can be used as a PC monitor.
