No machine made today is reliable. My toaster is reliable but no PC approaches what I would call reliable.
I do however own the Acer AspireOne Netbook and it's very nice, works well and have no issues so far. Then again one owner could never get email to work. For them, that means unreliable.
I'd buy the Acer again. HP and Dell have their Netbooks and these all seem to be equal when I compare with friends that have such. That is, just as reliable as mine.
As to Asus, they still have service issues in the US so if you are here shop the other brands.
I installed Office off our office shared USB DVDRW drive. I could also install Open Office off the internet.

I need a netbook for reports and similar tasks. Netbook because of their very small size and minimal weight. Asus, hp, and dell all have received strongly positive user reviews. I do not need a full size keyboard, I am looking for the most dependable, functional, sturdy and quick netbook, wireless, good viewing screen. Recommendations? As a postscript, to put Microsoft office on the netbook, is purchasing a separate DVDRW recommended?
Thanks, Cathy
