Question

Which memory stick

Sep 11, 2013 5:43AM PDT

My new build calls for Dual Channel Kit DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (actually it can go much higher but since I will not be overclocking, I see no sense in going higher than 1333)Memory stick. I have listed below 5 possible sticks from 3 different manufacturers. Both Corsair and Kingston have 2 different models that have the same general specifications, yet there must be a difference in the models. I believe the Corsair's CMV can be overclocked but I am not sure about their CMX.
The price range varies more between what vendor I use than between the various models listed below. My question: Is one of these considerable better than the others or are that all just about equal?

CORSAIR 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model CMV16GX3M2A1333C9.

CORSAIR XMS 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model CMX16GX3M2A1333C9

Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model BLS2KIT8G3D1339DS1S00

Kingston KVR13N9K2/16 16GB (2x8GB) 1333MHz DDR3 ValuRAM, 9-9-9, 1.5V, Dual Channel Kit.

Kingston Blu KHX13C9B1K2/16 - 16GB Kit (2x8GB) - DDR3 1333MHz CL9 DIMM - 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) - DDR3 SDRAM - 1333 MHz ...

Answer
Are you sure about that 1333?

Unless your building with old stuff.

Share the cpu and mobo your building with.

Ram......some folks get tied up with marketing hype.
Heat spreaders.
Slightly lower timing.

Crucial is a good place to visit......doubt you'll go too far wrong.

No, I am never really sure about most anything. I saw somewhere that going beyond 1333 would not be of much benefit.

Will do

The dual1600 generally runs about $20 more but that won't break the bank. I am willing to pay that if I get more speed from the 1600 than the 1333.

Use a little care

If you pick 1600 ram with high delays it might turn out to be a wash or a step backwards when compared to 1333 with low delays.
