Photozone.de likes the Sigma 10-20 f/4-5.6. It's obviously a hair slower aperture-wise, but it is a lot cheaper than the Nikon 10-24. They also really like the Sigma 8-16mm f/4-5.6 and give it their rare Highly Recommended rating.
35mm would be on the short side for a portrait lens; the 50mm would give you an equivalent 75mm.
I recently bought a Nikon D3100 and now I'm looking to upgrade the kit lenses that came with the camera. Most of my subjects are portraits, street photography or landscapes, so I'm looking at buying a good prime/fixed lens and a wide angle lens. Which ones do you recommend?
At the moment I'm thinking:
Wide angle lens: AF-S Nikkor 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G DX ED
Fixed/prime lens: AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G DX or the AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 G DX (looking for a lens that will produce good bokeh)
Are these good lenses for the subjects I'm looking to shoot? Are there any other lenses I should look at?
