I don't have an answer because I have done all the recommended maintanence on my laptop(s) and they still overheat. They do fine at first and then the length of time my computer is on becomes less and less before the overheating starts. When it overheats to the point of auto-shutdown it's only been about 30 mins. We take apart and clean all the fans, etc. and the problem still exists. My friend, an IT guy, says my heatsink is fine and when I asked about replacing it he said that actually they do not generally stop working so replacing it is unlikely to help.
So as a last resort I want to get some kind of external cooling system (I already have the cooling pad). I want something that actually works so I don't have to buy a new laptop every year. BTW, I am a casual user, no hard work, an hour or two playing high graphic Facebook games, no other graphic intensive work. I am a 70-year old woman who enjoys playing around on my computer, doing searches, shopping, email, Facebook.
