- For normal users 8 GB or RAM is fine. It could be that the programs you use perform better with 16 GB. What does the university recommend?
- For portability, 17.3" is unpleasant. My son prefers 14" because it fits in his backpack. But maybe your backpack is bigger and you don't mind the extra weight? 15.6" would be a compromise.
- Why a third generation I7? The current one is 7 or 8.
- Most people prefer a matte screen. And some people hate a touchpad that's not in the middle of the laptop, but more to the left or right.
- For the SSD pick the largest you can pay, but at least 240 GB.
Hello everyone
This year I'm going to start my studies as a Civil Engineer. Before I start, I need a laptop to take with me and to use at home. I've got the choice between the following:
1) Dell Latitude E6430: Intel Core I7-3720QM @ 2,6 GHz / 4 GB RAM / Windows 10 Prof / 14 inch
2) Dell M6700: Intel Core I7-3840QM @ 2,80 GHz / 16 GB RAM / Windows 10 / 17,3 inch
3) Fujitsu E752: Intel Core I7-3520M @ 2,9 GHz / 6 GB RAM / Windows 10 / 15,6 inch
4) Fujitsu H920: Intel Core I7-3520M @ 2,9 GHz / 8 GB / Windows 10 / 17,3 inch
The programs we've got to use during our first year are Maple, Matlab, Solid Edge (and Microsoft Office).
I've also got the choice to pick a 120/ 240 or 480 GB SSD.
Which one would you pick or wouldn't you pick any of them?
(PS: I'm not sure my English is fully correct)
