Question

Which laptop to buy( dell xps vs hp envy)

Aug 17, 2017 11:26AM PDT

Hello,
i would like to ask a question on which laptop to buy for programming studies, watching movies, surfing on web and so on. Games doesnt intrest me at all.
i have a choice of these 2 laptops:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/store/d/dell-xps-13-9360-7904slv-laptop/8q1707kjq1fq/l67z
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/store/d/hp-envy-13-i7-7500u-8gb-512gb-ssd-silver-uk/8pz9hpm5w9td/d8hh.
Looking at specs the hp is a clear winner but somewhy i trust in dell more, the display looks much better, is smaller.
Would there be a big difference in speed between these two?
What would you buy the dell or the hp (not looking at the price)?

Answer
My last HP was my last HP.

HP lost me over warranty issues. 3 months old and HP broke the laptop and would not cover, replace or refund. Sorry HP, you had 6 months to correct this and sent me surveys about my service encounter and your phone support folk telling me I should have bought an Envy.

For this round, Dell.

Answer
Probably the Dell

Don't know if you are a student but for portability the Dell is the best choice. You say the Dell has a better picture but I question that as the HP supposedly has a 4K display? Speed wise a i5 vs i7 will not be noticeable unless you are doing a lot of high intensity processing and always have a lot of Windows open. 8Gb of RAM is plenty for most people unless you're loading a lot of programs at once. 256Gb SSD is adequate although you may want to invest in a good 64Gg thumb drive. All said I agree with Profit not just because of his warranty issue but I think the Dell is a good choice based upon what I've mentioned.
