Which laptop should I get?

Which one should I get? The concerns I have right now are:

1. Acer vs. HP
2. 16" vs. 17"
3. Which one is better for gaming

1. I have heard both great and horrible things about these brands, I just want the absolute truth. Are they both about the same? Main thing that concerns me about brands is durability.
2. Not sure how much screen size will matter... 17" is bigger and cooler, but also more bulky and heavy.
3. My friend tells me that core 2 duos are better than what the HP one has for gaming, which I'm not sure about. Also, what about graphics cards? Which is better? Not buying this comp solely for gaming, so it won't be able to run the craziest stuff out there.

Also, I am a student on a budget, which is why I'm considering such cheap laptops. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Agreed, but a lot also depends on the gaming itself. . .

Exactly what kind of gaming are you going to be doing? Are we talking really graphically intense stuff, or more that you just want to make sure the laptop has the memory and processing resources to handle the games?

Wow, I didn't know it would be that big of a difference between the two laptops. That really helps, thanks!

@CodyG: I plan to play games like assassins creed, bioshock, half-life 2, portal, gmod, etc.

If you're going to be doing graphics intense gaming like Assassin's Creed, etc., you might be better off with the 1GB card that comes with the Acer.

Thanks,

One other question...
Jun 23, 2009 9:58AM PDT

I have one other question about this. Is it true that if I buy this acer after july 1, I will get a free copy of windows 7 when it comes out? If so, how will I receive this copy?

All vendors will be offering the Windows 7 coupons.

Acer will make the offer but I'm not sure of what the date is.
