Which of these two would you say is the better one?
I only know basics with regards to computers so would be helpful to know which is actually better.

Alternatively if you know of any laptops which are better that cost as close to £300, or less, as possible then I would be very grateful!

The laptop is going to be used for general internet use, use for university,
watching movies, potentially occasional low-spec gaming and listening to music.

No reviews found on the first one.

Just for that alone I'll write "Pass, do not consider it."

Same story about the second item.

This usually means that these are very new or low cost leaders to get folk in the door.

With no reviews the first unit may be slighter better at graphics and to compare CPUs I'd look those up on Tomshardware.com CPU CHARTS.

I think I am going to buy the x53e then if I can't be sure of the performance of the other two. Cheers!
