hey so i've been shopping for a new gaming (rpg, rts, shooter) laptop from around 1000$ usd to 1500$ usd. and cnet didn't review these two computers so i want to ask the more experienced people out there which computer would be better

are you sure? the other laptop even having a less powerful graphics card has faster CPU speed (.13 more GHz i think) , 512mb more ram in the graphics card, a higher L2 cache by 3mbs.
And not computation speed the GPU speed is the decider.
well in the case, what about this one? slightly slower CPU speed but a better graphics card RAM wise.

and just another question that came to mind, if it has the blue ray player in it can i still put regular dvd movies in it?
Your question while a good one is a bad sign. If the vendor won't answer basic questions like these pre-sales then imagine after the sale. This can't be a good sign.
But yes, all known BR drives can play DVD movies if the software and REGIONS are proper.
