Re: laptop

You have to define your needs and your criteria for better.
For example: some find a larger screen better, others find a lighter laptop with a smaller screen better.
Another example: some want a gaming laptop, others want an office laptop.

Can you help us advising you by telling those 2 things (your needs, your criteria) and listing the differences between these 2 laptops?

Y530 vs Yoga 730

In reply to: Re: laptop

Overall I do some light gaming, but nothing too intense.

I guess my biggest question that would help answer this question is this:

Would you prefer 8gb ram + nvidea 1050x graphics 4gb or would you prefer 16gb ram with integrated graphics? Is the difference between 8gb ram and 16gb ram significant? In what cases is 16gb ram better?

Lastly, do you happen to know the difference between yoga 720 and yoga 730?

Re: 8GB or 16GB

In reply to: Y530 vs Yoga 730

16 GB is only needed if 8 GB isn't enough. That's quite an exception. But if you keep Chrome open with 100 tabs, you'll need it.

Check (in task manager) how much RAM is used when you do your normal things on your current PC or laptop. Here, when I'm using Firefox to type this answer, and a background McAfee virus check runs, it's 37% of 8 GB, or nearly 3 GB. If I open MS Outlook, it goes up to 38%.

Gaming? 1050 or better.

In reply to: Re: laptop

But you are gaming so the 1050 gets the nod. You can find many posts about onboard graphics and gamers losing their mind.
