If pitted against the P4 @ 1.8GHz. Centrino speeds on average only require 1/2 the GHz to match the P4. You have not only that but a Duo.

Hello, I currently have a compaq presario 1520us, have had it for 4 years now and I'm looking to purchase a new laptop. I came across the hp pavilion dv5220us laptop but was a little unsure about the processor. it features an Intel Core Duo processor T2050 and is 1.6ghz. the processor in the computer i currently have is a pentium 4 and it is 1.8ghz. it seems to me that this new laptop, though it comes with a much newer type of processor, has a slower processor. most of the work i do on my computer is processing videos. since the new laptop's processor is 1.6ghz, would it take more time to process videos and similar processor intensive things than the laptop i currently have, which has a 1.8ghz processor? or does the ghz value not matter much in this newer generation of intel processors?
