hello,
you may find it helpful to go to a store and hold them and test as best you can. if you don't like how one feels in your hand or something like that, you would be upset if you ordered it and didn't like it and then had to pay a restocking fee to send it back.
i've been looking for a camcorder for a while and until i went to the store and played with them, the one i thought i wanted was hard for me to use because i have the hands of a 12 year old.
i recently read the review on camcorderinfo about the optura 60, which is what i plan to buy, now that it's cheaper than the optura 40 and was shocked to see that it got a really bad review in the low light category, worst than last years model. i posted a note asking about this a few hours ago, so i'm hoping someone will let me know.
i've read a lot of reviews about consumer camcorders and they all seem to do poorly in low light. people in the message boards say that if you have lights on in the room (60 or 100 watt), you should be fine. after viewing the low light video in the reviews, i can say that i don't have any plans to actually shoot in the dark, which is what they look like.
the one thing that i haven't been able to figure out is how well they do outside at night, like on the vegas strip or on broadway in nyc or outside in the backyard at a cookout.
i hope this helps.
