Question

Which is better method to uninstall a program

Apr 16, 2017 7:07AM PDT

Something like "free" program, Revo Uninstaller or going the Control Panel / Programs and Features 'route'? Seems that "Revo" does more, but it may not be necessary!

Thanks in advance

Answer
I use both

Sometimes one won't list a program but the other will , so I use both.
I really try to use the mfgr's uninstaller when I can.
Revo is better at uninstalling stubborn things though

depends

I never use a third party uninstaller. If it has one, I will use the softwares uninstaller or if it does not have one, I will use windows.

The thing about Revo, is it is not perfect. It can be dangerous to your computer by damaging your registry so if you use it, make sure you have a good and recent restore point saved.

Revo creates a restore point before

it does anything, which I always thought was a good thing. And as a general rule I try a make a restore point of my own from time to time.

Thanks for replying

never trust third party restore point creation

Over the years I have seen too many software claim they will create a restore point prior to its use and it never worked or wasnt created when needed - including Revo. I have seen this in the different help forums I belong to where users had a mess. IMO, you should ALWAYS create your own restore point just to play it safe

Use default uninstaller

Press windows key+x, then on the top click on programs and features. Now you can select the program you can to uninstall.
