which is better Canon IXUS 1000 HS vs Power Shot SX230 HS

i am really confused which 1 is better both have a powerful zoom
low light sensitivity slow motion
i have short time to decide as i will travel soon, i appreciate ur help thx

Neither is "better." It just depends on which features are more important to you. The IXUS 1000 is smaller and sleaker, with few buttons and dials. The SX230 is slightly larger with more conventional style and controls. It also has more zoom range.

thx for your reply, actually i am an advanced amateur but i like to control features and settings so this is a point for SX230 but i wonder in your opinion is it a recommended camera for its price category or there are other cameras i should consider, canon nikion or else.
I have searched a lot and I think canon providing best quality for that price, but I need your expert opinion about recommended cameras in that price category, Thanks in advance

thanks for your help and the link was really useful. i think i will go for Canon SX230 it will fulfill my needs despite its Chromatic aberration i think i can live with that. Thank you
