There is no "best". Buy something that gives value for money and meets your requirements.

There are the most powerfull which will cost the most. They are the ones that are the most efficient with the longest battery life. There are the one that are the most durable.

Since you know what laptops you can get for that price and most others won't, start a new post with your short list of machines so folk can tell you what they think of them.

Your top post here is about best. Without any monetary or other limits.

Suggestions to Consider
Apr 7, 2016 7:03AM PDT

I would suggest you go to sites that offer you the ability to choose what you want. Understand they usually start out with a base model and allow you to upgrade it from there.

My suggestions are the following:

If you're a gamer, you'll need a laptop or desktop designed for that. Machines with a 300watts of power are not going to be very good gaming machines. You should look at having at least 500 watts. Also, you would need a very good graphics card. I'd suggest Nvidia GeForce GTX970. You can get a 980 or a 980Ti but they get pretty expensive. The GTX970 has been quoted in reviews as being high enough quality for great gaming, doing high end photoshop work, and AutoCad work.

Then I'd suggest you stick with an Intel i7-6700, -6700K or -6700HQ processor. They're the fastest currently on the market and go by the name of Skylake. Any of the 6700's are good, it just depends on how much you want to spend. These are also quad core processors so make sure you're configuration allows for quad core and not just dual core, (speaking of the motherboard).

When it comes to RAM, DDR4 is the current type and I'd suggest going with a minimum of 8GB regardless of whether you're doing gaming or homework. Too little RAM can be a real hinderence and multi-tasking can suck up 4GB in no time.

As far as which brands are the best, I'd suggest you consider this:

If you're looking for a laptop, how heavy is it? Alienwares are great but they weigh a ton and are really expensive. Toshiba is less expensive but again, many of their models are heavy. And "heavy" does not equate to being better.

What do review sites say about the model your considering?

The bottom line is really your budget. Keep in mind that the "best" coincides with new technology which coincides with more expense....meaning New cars cost more than Old cars.

I hope this helps.
