This comparison is a bit like comparing a Buick to a Cadillac.
The Canon 7D being the Buick and the Nikon D700 the Cadillac.
The Nikon cost is twice the cost of the Canon.
The major difference is the size of the CMOS sensor used.
The Nikon sensor is 2.5 times larger.
