which HD format is the best? HD H.264 or HD AVI?

i want to convert my AVCHD files to either H.264 or AVI? which one is better when it comes to video quality?

sorry about AVI..

from one of the video converters i am using, there is these several kinds of HD convertion.. these are HD-H.264, HD-MPEG4 & HD-AVI.. so... which is the best among the three HD Categories?

You didn't tell.

You didn't tell what would make it best. Over the years I've seen this question and the tests are size, quality and compatibility with the owners gear.

Try this. Define what you want and then try each encoding.
