conflicting messages about AVCHD and its video quality. If you are using an Intel-Mac with the most current versions of iMovieHD '08 or FinalCut (Express or Pro), then AVCHD can be used. I am not a fan of doing that much compression (stuffing the digital video into the AVCHD envelope) as the first step. Video compression = discarded video data = reduced video quality...
The HV30 will connect with a firewire cable - unless your MacBook is one of the new ones, in which case there is no firewire port... previous generations have a firewire port... You may need to custom install the "Apple Intermediate Code" in order for the video apps (and QuickTime) to be able to deal with HDV.
I'm about to purchase an HD camcorder. I just can't decide which one to get.
I plan on editing the material I record quite a bit. And I will be editing it on my macbook.
So, here's the three I've brought it down to:
The only reservations I have about the HF10 and HF100 is that they are using the AVCHD format. I'm not sure how I'll be able to change the format so I can edit it whereas the HV30 is already ready to edit (I think).
Which one would you recommend?
Please and thanks.
