Color quality is not really a problem on any digital camera. They almost all have a white balance adjustment so that you can get good results even under adverse lighting situations.
I have only seen one review on the Canon S2 IS and it was very positive. The specifications on the S2 IS show that it will be excellent for sports and actions shots.
The Canon S1 IS held the record as the best camera for taking video. I would assume that the S2 IS will do the same. You can even zoom while taking the video. Most digital cameras will not let you do that, as their microphones will pick up the noise of the zoom motor. The Canon zoom motor is silent.
The video quality is very good, but it will not be as smooth as a camcorder, unless you use a tripod. Using the viewfinder will improve the smoothness when hand holding the camera for video.
The S2 IS sounds like it will suit your needs very well.

I'm a senior in high school, and the editor in chief of our school yearbook, so I wanted to invest in my own personal camera that could take really nice pics for our yearbook. So some things I'd like would be...
1. Really good Quality color--I've been researching for the past few days and I don't really understand the ''specs'' of color, Is it even true that some digital cameras have better color quality?
2. At least 4 Megapixels
2. Willing to spend up to $500
3. Good movie capabilites.
3. I'll probably be using it indoors a lot, so something good in ''low light''.
4. A big optical zoom would be cool, but I guess it isn't totally necessary, It'd be really nice to have for live concerts.
5. Some kind of image stabilizer, or cool capabilites to get better pictures, like I liked the feature on the nikon 5900, the best shot selector.
I think my favorite that I've found right now is the canon s2-Is, I love it's movie capabilities, and I don't think I'll mind only being able to record 8.8 minutes on a 1gb card, since I'm just sixteen, and get kinda bored easily, probably just use it for taping my friends do stupid little stuff. Oh, by the way can I burn videos I record on the s2-Is on DVD? Will the quality be ok? I saw
Does that camera sound right for me? Are there any better options to consider?
