Which compact cameras have unlimited audio record function?

Mar 13, 2005 3:59AM PST

I am looking for for a small camera, 3.2-5 MP, that has an audio recording function that isn't capped at a minute or so. I do a lot of travelling and it's nice to be able to record music or interviews with my camera. I know the Casio Exilm cameras do this, (I am replacing my old ExM2), but I am worried about image quality and the battery and memory drain from having to take overly large pictures with no 1024X768 resolution setting. I would buy a canon SD 200 or 300 today if it had audio record, but it seems to be capped after a short time (I don't remember where I read that, nor can I imagine why a camera with unlimited video recording would limit audio-only). Are there other cameras I should look at with this function?

3 that do . . .

So far I've seen that the Pentax Optio S5i, the Casio EXZ series, and the Konica Minolta DiMage X50 act as audio recorders. Any others in the 4-5MP compact range?

Does the Epson_PhotoPC_L_410 do audio recording?
Mar 13, 2005 10:32PM PST

The CNET review for the NYTimes lists its video input features as "Video input features DPOF support, Direct print, Audio recording, Date/time stamp, Built-in speaker, PRINT Image Matching, RGB primary color filter". Does that mean that it can function as an audio recorder, or just that the video has sound?

I highly recommen a 5 megapixel, 2.5 inch hyper crystal screen, unlimited audio-recording , all weather compact camera. the Olympus Sylus 500. I bought mine for $340 at newegg.com, but i think it's on sale right now for under $300
