I want to buy an inexpensive computer for my grandson. Any suggestions about makes and models?

Chromebooks are limited. You would only consider one after you owned one (yes, I one one.)
At that age I really think a desktop is best. They can spill a drink on the keyboard and the bill will be 10 bucks.
He will undoubtedly find games to play and hopefully educational software for learning.
Did pretty good but I went with a desktop and lost a keyboard or 2. I guess folk would have to learn this firsthand. Hope the budget stands up to this.

I'll seriously consider your suggestions. Thanks. While it will likely increase the cost of any equipment, I want to also try for touch screen technology since my grandson is so comfortable using a tablet.

I don't see touch screens in the top 20.
